Packaging

Packed for the shelf, the factory floor, or your brand.

Packaging is where a good grade becomes a sellable product — or a caked, mislabelled problem. From 125 g retail pouches to one-tonne jumbo bags, every format below is packed in food-safe materials, moisture-protected, labelled and batch-coded.

The buyer's problem

The wrong pack costs more than the right pack.

Retail buyers reject salt that looks tired on the shelf. Manufacturers reject salt that cannot be handled, stored or dosed in their process. Distributors lose margin repacking what should have arrived in the right bag. Packaging decisions are therefore commercial decisions: choose the format for the channel it will actually sell or work in, and agree it — with labelling and batch coding — before production, not after the container is loaded.

Bulk packaging

Bulk formats, 5 kg to 1 MT.

For distributors, food manufacturers and repackers — built around the standard 25 kg export bag.

SizeUse
5 kgSmall bulk — distributors, repackers, small manufacturers
10 kgDistributor and food-service staple
20 kgFood manufacturing and larger distributors
25 kgThe standard export bag: PP bag with PE liner — 40 bags = 1 metric tonne
50 kgHeavy industrial and large-scale food use
Jumbo — up to 1 MTOne-tonne jumbo bags for industrial and large manufacturing buyers

The tonne rule: 40 × 25 kg bags = 1 metric tonne (1,000 kg). Use it for freight quotes, warehouse planning and order sizing.

Food-safe materials, moisture protection

All packaging uses food-safe materials — that is a process step, not a marketing line. The bulk standard, a 25 kg polypropylene (PP) bag with a polyethylene (PE) liner, exists for a physical reason: salt is hygroscopic. It absorbs moisture from the air and cakes into lumps, and a caked bag is a rejected bag in food manufacturing and a returned bag in retail.

Moisture protection therefore runs through the whole chain: sealed liners at packing, dry storage before dispatch, and dry storage at your end. If your warehouse is humid, or your transit route is long, say so at quotation — the pack and the handling advice should be matched to the journey, not just the product.

Protect the pack after arrival

  • Store in a dry place, off the floor and away from damp walls
  • Keep liners sealed until use — an opened bag starts absorbing moisture immediately
  • Do not stack in a way that crushes seals or splits bags
  • Rotate stock so older batches are used first

Traceability

Labelling & batch coding.

Every pack is labelled and batch-coded, so a shipment can be traced back to the batch that was tested — and a problem, if one ever appears, can be isolated rather than guessed at.

Labelled per market

Label content is agreed at quotation, including market-specific labelling law in your destination — which differs by country and must not be assumed.

Batch-coded packs

Batch coding ties each pack to its certificate of analysis. Your QA team can match the pack in hand to the test result on file.

Documentation to match

Commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, bill of lading and batch COA travel with the shipment — see our logistics page.

Private label

Your brand on the pack, our systems behind it

Private labelling and OEM cover products and packaging, with custom packaging and labelling as per your market demands. Your brand identity, our manufacturing and quality systems — including custom packaging and branding for salt lamps and décor lines. Private-label terms, including any artwork and approval process, are confirmed at quotation; see the private-label page for the full picture.

Loading notes

Pallet & container loading.

Plan freight and warehousing around the tonne: 40 × 25 kg bags = 1 MT. Mixed containers and mixed formats are a quotation conversation, not an assumption.

Count in tonnes

Order, quote freight and plan warehouse space in metric tonnes — 40 bags of 25 kg each — so every party is counting the same unit.

Mixed containers

A container mixing grades or formats can be discussed at quotation. What mixes, and how it is separated and labelled, must be agreed before loading.

Inspect before sealing

Third-party inspection (SGS / BV or your nominated agency) is supported before dispatch — the last chance to catch a packing error while it is still cheap to fix.

Decision guide

Choose by channel.

Retail

125 g–5 kg pouch, jar, shaker or grinder. Shelf presence matters: choose the size your shoppers already buy, and let private-label artwork do the rest.

Food manufacturing

25 kg or 50 kg bags, or jumbo to 1 MT. Handling, dosing and moisture control matter more than shelf looks — agree particle size and bag handling with your process team.

Distributor / repacker

Bulk bags you can break down, or retail formats you can sell on. If you serve both channels, discuss a mixed order at quotation.

Questions buyers ask

Packaging FAQs

The common bulk export pack is the 25 kg polypropylene (PP) bag with a polyethylene (PE) liner. One metric tonne equals 1,000 kg — forty 25 kg bags. If your handling, pallet or warehouse setup needs a different bag, agree it at quotation before production.
